Effect of Vitamin B2 and Vitamin E on Cancer-Related Sarcopenia in a Mouse Cachexia Model

چکیده

Cancer-related sarcopenia is associated with impaired energy metabolism and increased oxidative stress production in skeletal muscles. With an aim to treat cancer-related using dietary intervention, we investigated the effects of vitamin B2 (VB2) E (VE), which are recognized have antioxidant effects, on CT26 mouse colon cancer cells muscles vitro vivo. VB2 suppressed tumor growth by suppressing cell proliferation inducing more pronounced apoptosis increasing adenosine triphosphate (ATP) reactive oxygen species (ROS). VE decreasing ATP ROS. In C2C12 myoblast cells, treatment ROS decreased ROS; both treatments maturation. model, intraperitoneal inoculation (peritoneal model) resulted marked macrophage infiltration elevated blood necrosis factor-α high-mobility group box-1 inflammatory cytokine levels, leading cachexia. contrast, subcutaneous (subcutaneous showed poor low without activated macrophages exacerbated peritoneal whereas did not exhibit significant changes model. order improve it important consider effect cytokines.

Inhibitory effect of vitamin E on vitamin B2-aldehyde-forming enzyme in Schizophyllum commune.

The novel enzyme of Schizophyllum commune which converts the 5•L hydroxymethyl group of riboflavin to the aldehyde group has been found to be unable to use NAD(P)+, FMN, FAD and Cyt c as electron acceptor for the conversion, as reported previously (1 , 2). During further investigation on the reaction mechanism of the enzyme , we have found a significant inhibition of the enzyme by ƒ¿-tocopherol...

Vitamin D and Sarcopenia

Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin, and has an essential role in calcium homeostasis and keeping of normal bone metabolism [5]. Data suggest that vitamin D status is crucial for the normal function of different organs, such as pancreatic β-cells, vascular endothelial cells, neurons, immune cells, osteoblasts, and myocytes, where vitamin D receptors are expressed [5]. In addition, vitamin D defi...

The effect of carrier for vitamin E on liver concentrations of vitamin E and vitamin E excretion in broilers.

Two experiments were conducted to determine the effect of 2 carrier sources of vitamin E on growth performance and excreta and liver vitamin E concentrations of broilers. Chicks were pretested from d 0 to 7 posthatching on a corn-soybean meal diet without vitamin E supplementation, and the experiments lasted from d 7 to 19 posthatching. Each treatment in both experiments was replicated with 6 p...

the effect of e-64 on the developmental competence of sheep cocs during in vitro maturation

in the present study, the effect of e-64 at different concentrations (0.5, 1, 5 and 10 µm) added to (1) the ivm medium on oocyte nuclear maturation and developmental competence of ovine oocytes, and (2) to the ivc medium on embryonic development of ovine embryos were investigated.

Vitamin D and VDR in cancer cachexia and muscle regeneration

Low circulating levels of vitamin D were associated with decreased muscle strength and physical performance. Along this line, the present study was aimed to investigate: i) the therapeutic potential of vitamin D in cancer-induced muscle wasting; ii) the mechanisms by which vitamin D affects muscle phenotype in tumor-bearing animals.Rats bearing the AH130 hepatoma showed decreased circulating vi...
